First Record I Ever Bought

I was dining out with friends last week when this song came on over the sound system and the memories poured in. The first vinyl record I ever bought. Yes, it was a 7″ single of Terence Trent D’Arby’s late 80s hit “Wishing Well”.

I bought it when I was about 14 from the Wooden Nickel on Anthony in Fort Wayne, and was pretty happy with my buy. See I had never really cared for purchasing vinyl because my father had a pretty extensive collection; everything from jazz to R&B to pop and EVERY Michael Jackson album. But one day my parents got divorced, and with my father went his record collection. Boooooo.

Anyway, I just thought I would share that memory. Think back to the first record you purchased. First DVD? First CD?

  1. First album I ever got was nevermind by Nirvana. My dad took me to a record store when I was 5 or 6 and told me I could pick out anything. I got Nevermind because of the naked baby on the front. First album I ever picked that I knew what it was; Men in Black Soundtrack. First album I bought with my own money, Lou Bega Mambo #5.
