Looks like Chicago indie rockers Company of Thieves are in no position to slow down. They’ve just released a new vid for the track “Pressure” of their 2009 debut release Ordinary Riches. The video features some interesting decor, 1920s style dress and interesting magic scenes, but I just really like the song.
If you are a first timer listener to the band, beware, their tunes just may get stuck in your head for days to come. Fronted by singer Genevieve Schatz, this band is taking the world by storm with Schatz’s sultry and powerful pipes. The first time I saw them was at a fundraiser festival on the IU campus. I knew nothing about the band except that my friend Gaby had booked them and was raving about them. As soon as they took the stage, I couldn’t turn away. It was enough that Schatz had one of the most amazing voices I’d ever heard, but her stage presence was even more entrancing. Jumping and dancing around, her energy reminded me of a pop version of Regina Spektor mixed with a little Feist. The band’s first video, which debuted a few months back, was a fun play on the film “Rushmore”. Expect big things from the Wind-Up Records band.
