I’ve been a fan of French music video blog La Blogotheque for a few years now. The group has done an excellent job of showcasing fresh indie artists from all over the world, some known and some you will know soon. It’s Take Away Show series is known for taking artists outside of the general soundstage, and into the streets, churches, apartment buildings, wherever they can go to record exclusive acoustic performances. That is where at first, this video featuring Cee Lo Green had me a bit disappointed.
It seemed like this session was in the back of a staging area, a more typical performing arts space or area. And second, Green was sort of timid, not really giving it his all in the first song “Fuck You”. Granted, he did mention that he was dealing with back pains and maybe just not feeling up to it, or possibly trying to save his voice for a later performance that evening. It was lacking. I wish those rhythm girls would have gotten a little more into it, maybe singing backing vocals that could actually be heard. HOWEVER, the huge comeback lies in the second song “Wildflower” which fits the soft and delicate voice he portrayed and he even got more into it, finding a space near flowers to perform, picking and playing with them, and really getting into the sweet number.
