New Music: “The Holidays Don’t Have To Be So Rotten: Volume 3” – Flannelgraph Records

Artwork by Gavin Smith

The third installment of local record label Flannelgraph Records‘ holiday compilation The Holidays Don’t Have To Be So Rotten is now available! For those unfamiliar with the project, each year since 2010, Flannelgraph Records has released a compilation album of original, instrumental, holiday-inspired songs contributed from musicians, bands, and friends of the label. Each year, the album artwork has been contributed by Indianapolis artist Gavin Smith, and the proceeds raised benefit a charitable cause. This year the album features a record thirty-four tracks from a variety of talents including DM Stith, Laura K. Balke, Whippoorwill,  Bro. Stephen, You’re A Liar, Mike Adams at His Honest Weight, New Terrors, and so many more. Proceeds will purchase presents for children who are currently living with their mothers at Middle Way House, a domestic violence shelter and rape crisis center in Bloomington. Middle Way House is a nationally recognized organization for its efforts to provide counseling, resources, and shelter for many women and children who are in desperate need of support. The album was mastered locally by Eric Day at Sleepwalk Recording.

The Holidays Don’t Have To Be So Rotten: Volume Three is available as a heartfelt digital download deal in which for $10 you get a holiday greeting card from the label featuring the album artwork with a download code inside. ‘Tis the season: don’t let your holidays be filled with sadness or boring drab holiday tunes of yesteryear; this project supports local music, local art, local businesses, and an amazing local cause. Get it now.

PS: There will be an album release benefit concert in Bloomington on December 3 at The Bishop. Cover is $5 and all money raised will benefit Middle Way House. Along with musicians/bands from the album, Santa Claus will apparently be present (plus FREE PIZZA!)
