A little heat and lack of precipitation haven’t kept local artist Spirit Spine out of the studio. Following the release of last month’s Atlantic Downs, a new song is already available for your listening pleasure. Try out “Artificial Sweat“, a steady instrumental jam up for a free download.
With the release date for Westbound a little over a month away, Wisconsin folk projectKalispell is getting antsy. The band has announced pre-orders for the album this week, which can be purchased on its bandcamp page. While there, listeners can check out “Lucky A Hundred Times“, the first single from the album, which is currently available for a free listen and download.
To sweeten the deal, those who pre-order Westbound will receive a free download of the Last Year EP.
Maps & Atlases is back, after heavy touring in support of Perch Patchwork, the band took a little time to relax before announcing its forthcoming album Beware and Be Grateful last week. Today, the band released the first single from the new album, a dance-worthy tune called “Winter“. Upon first listen, it almost sounds frighteningly poppy for a band that has been considered “indie” for so long, but give it a little time and you’ll hear the same spazzy guitars, tight percussion, and creative songwriting that you have grown to love from this ever-evolving band. Beware and Be Grateful is due out April 17th from Barsuk Records.
With a stand-out year for local band Tammar, it only makes sense that they found the time to stop in and record a stellar session with Daytrotter. They finally found time to release their big debut full length Visits on Suicide Squeeze, and did a hefty bit of touring this past fall. Check out on the session site now, including 3 song from Visits and an untitled track.
Please also consider getting yourself hooked up with a Daytrotter membership as a holiday gift to yourself. You can download the tracks in a multitude of different formats and enjoy great exclusive live sessions with your favorite and (hopefully) soon-to-be-favorite bands! As Daytrotter just can’t continue providing this amazing content for free (we all got bills to pay!), they are only asking for $2 a month (that’s less than 1 cup of coffee out of your month! And SOOO worth it!) to be a member and have access to not only new content, but their amazing archives of sessions with artist like Wilco, Bon Iver, The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs and so many others. PLUS you get unlimited Daytrotter streaming on your computer or mobile device! If you support the great sessions they do, really consider showing them a little monetary support!
